Thoughts Thus Far With FFXIII-2

So I think I’m gotten a good grasp of the came so far. I’m on Episode 3 as of now, but the funny thing is that I skipped a portion of the game when I wasn’t supposed to. Luckily, I was able to use my skills in FFXIII battle mechanics to beat the huge red flan in Episode 3 (part 2). I didn’t know I which time line I was supposed to go to so I was like alright, lets do this. It was a close match, but I beat him. But I had to stagger him like 5 times for total victory. I kinda figured that I choose the wrong timeline when I didn’t get any stars on the boss battle. Even if I sucked, I should have gotten at least 3 stars.

So that is when I realized two things. One, if you are really good, you can skip timelines and progress. Then come back to clean up in prior ones. And two, being prepared helps. If I didn’t have a good paradigm line up, I would have died so fast.

Which brings me to the second boss battle. The first battle with Caius. I had such a hard time fighting him and I was like how do you beat this guy? I tried my best not to use the FAQs, but I had no choice. It was simple, use the Pulsework Solder and let him absorb all the hits. Noel and Searh will dish the hits for you. 5 stared that bitch. And I noticed how I rarely got 5 stars with all the other battles. I though the time was unforgiving. Ever since I switched to RAV/COM/SEN (Serah/Noel/PulseWorker), 5 stars came easy. I never knew how much of an asset he was.

I’m playing on Normal Mode and just like the prequel, battles are unforgiving. If you don’t have the proper paradigms, you will lose soooooooooo easy. I only died 5 times, 3 to Caius and 2 two OP’d monsters that must be rare monsters for that area. 6 if you count the Behemoth in the Timeline right after the Atlus defeat, but you weren’t supposed to fight them iirc.

I shall keep you all updated.
